Our Heartfelt Thanks to Everyone!

Friday was nail-biting day. The amount of alpha-keratin consumed by the team could have built a small replica of the leaning tower of Pisa. When the first reviews hit, most around the 8/10 mark, the sigh of relief was audible. When the 9/10s started piling on, however, relief turned to joy, and joy to tears - the smiles never faltering.

Tomorrow’s launch is dedicated to all the hard-working people who in one way or another helped bring Forgotton Anne to life. Every member of the ThroughLine family devoted their hearts, souls, minds, and time to this project, and we’re thrilled to see that has come across in the game’s reviews. We’ve catalogued over 60 written reviews so far and numerous streams and let’s-plays are up on Twitch and YouTube.

Playstation Universe simply stated “Forgotton Anne is a Work of Art” and the Washington Post said “Forgotton Anne is an Incredibly Beautiful Adventure.” The one blurb that stood out the most for me, personally, and made my vision blurry and made me have to swallow the sudden and inexplicable lump in my throat was this one from Eurogamer:

I wish I could just tell you that Forgotton Anne is brilliant and wrap things up there. I want to leave you to go enjoy it without saying anything else, because that's the way this story should be encountered. It's a game about a lack of knowledge - yours, and Anne's - and how this can be both a curse and a blessing. It's a game about forgetting things and about loss, about remembering what you had and the cost of doing so. Best of all, it's a game which will win you over with its huge amount of heart.

I want to say more about why and how, but I can't. Forgotton Anne is brilliant, and I'll wrap things up there.

To our family and friends, who’ve been amazingly supportive and who’ve stuck with us through the highs and lows of indie game development; to the QA teams at Square Enix and our internal testers, whose patience and dedication was vital to bringing the game’s quality and playability to the heights where it stands today; to Stefano and Keith at Renaissance PR and Craig at Kartridge whose persistence helped bring the spotlight on our little indie title in publications like Edge Magazine, Official Playstation Magazine, The Verge, Eurogamer, IGN, PC Gamer, Gamereactor, and countless others; to all the reviewers, streamers, and content creators who saw something in Forgotton Anne and devoted their time to playing and analysing it; to Phil, Teressa, Amy, Chris, and everyone else at Square Enix Collective, who took a chance on us and supported us in making Forgotton Anne according to our vision; and to CAPNOVA, Kick-Ass Capital, the Danish Film Institute, and Execution Labs, without whom Forgotton Anne would likely never have gotten made.

The debt of gratitude we owe to all of you will never be repaid. No matter what the future holds, we will never forget your faith in us. Thank you.

*If there’s anyone we didn’t mention, please don’t hold it against us. We are overwhelmed with emotions at the moment and it’s making concentration slightly less attainable than usual.
